Getting started
What is NodusPlay?
A platform to discover indie games and for their creators to publish them and build a community. You can explore by genre, style, theme and mechanics, save favorites, build lists and follow creators you like.
Is it free?
Yes. Discovering games and publishing yours is free. NodusPlay does not charge for games: if a game is paid, you buy it at its creator's link.
Do I need an account?
Not to explore. To save favorites, comment, follow creators, build lists or publish games, yes. Signing up only needs an email and a password of at least 12 characters.
Which languages are supported?
Spanish, English and French. Change language from the header selector.
Account and security
I forgot my password
On "Sign in" click "Forgot your password?" and enter your email. We will send a one-time link to set a new one. Changing it signs out your other sessions.
I cannot sign in and I see a sanction message
Your account has a sanction (mute, suspension or ban). You can still defend yourself: after entering your password you will see "Appeal this sanction", where you explain your side and attach up to 5 screenshots. Someone on the team reviews it.
How do I protect my account and data?
Use a unique, long password. Never share your password, bank details, address, phone number or documents with anyone, not even someone claiming to be the team: NodusPlay will never ask for them. Be wary of links and files from strangers and of offers that are "too good to be true".
Who can see my data?
You decide. In Profile settings → Your data privacy you choose what shows on your public profile (location, links, interests, achievements, activity, contact email). Your account email is never shown to anyone.
How do I delete my account?
In Profile settings → "Delete my account…". We explain what is erased, you confirm and enter your password again. It is permanent: your profile, activity and, if you are a creator, your games are erased.
Discovering and saving games
How do I find a game I will like?
In Explore you can filter by genre, visual style, technology, experience, mechanics, subgenre and theme (medieval, pirates, post-apocalyptic…). You can also use the header search (Ctrl+K or ⌘+K).
What is the difference between Likes, Favorites, Wishlist and Collections?
Likes (♥): a “like” that shows on the game and notifies the creator; there is no public list of the ones you give. Favorites (★): the games you save for yourself. Wishlist: games you want to play later; we notify you when they launch or become free. Collections: your own lists, public or private, to share (for example "My horror indies").
Why does "Play now" take me to another site?
Each game page takes you to the game's official page. Each creator has their own privacy policy.
What is pre-order?
Some creators let you reserve or buy their game before launch. You will see them on the home page with their release date. Purchases are always made at the creator's link, not on NodusPlay.
For creators
How do I publish my game?
Create your studio in "Creator space", fill in the game details (cover, description, genres, tags, link) and click "Send for review". You can also "Save draft" and finish later.
How long does review take and why might it be rejected?
The team reviews every game before publishing. If it is rejected you will see the reason in your dashboard and can fix it and resubmit. Editing an already published game sends it back to review.
What statistics can I see?
On each published game a collapsible panel shows visits, "Play now" clicks, favorites, wishlist, comments, reviews, average rating and charts for the last 30 days.
How do I get more visibility?
Keep your game updated (followers get alerts), use good tags and cover art, and take part in the community. Season titles in the Hall of fame reward real merit. There is also a creator showcase on the home page, with a sponsored option.
Community, messages and moderation
How do private messages work?
You can write to other people from their profile ("Send message" button) and read your conversations from the envelope icon ✉. Each person decides who can write to them: anyone, only people they follow, or nobody. For safety there are anti-spam limits, and the first message to someone who does not follow you cannot include links.
Someone is bothering me. What do I do?
You can block them from their profile (they can no longer see, follow or message you) and report them or the conversation with the "Report" button. Serious reports (minors, threats, self-harm) are handled first.
What happens when I report something?
The team reviews it. If it is confirmed to break the rules, action is taken: warning, mute, suspension or ban depending on severity and repetition. False or abusive reports lower the credibility of whoever files them.
What do mute, suspension and ban mean?
Mute: you can browse but not comment, review or report. Suspension: you cannot sign in for a few days. Ban: you cannot sign in and your games stop being shown. In all three cases you can appeal.
Can the team read my private messages?
No. A copy of the latest messages is only kept if you or the other person report the conversation, so it can be reviewed.
Plans and payments
Are there paid plans?
Not today: everything on NodusPlay is free. If optional plans ever exist, we will announce them here and in the news before they can be purchased.
Alerts and emails
How do I control what I am notified about?
In Profile settings → "Communications and alerts" you can mute each bell category (followers, my games, creators, wishlist, achievements, messages). Moderation and appeal alerts cannot be muted because they inform you of decisions about your account.
Will you send me lots of emails?
No. The email digest is off by default; if you turn it on you choose weekly or monthly and what it includes. Never more than one per period, and never an empty one.
Hall of fame and titles
How is a season title won?
Each quarter titles such as "Best rated in a genre", "Most loved game", "Most consistent creator" or "Rising creator" are contested. Only whoever is ahead holds it, with votes from real accounts and above a minimum. If someone overtakes you, the title changes hands.
Why do my votes not count or why can I not win?
Only accounts older than 30 days with their own activity count, and never what a creator does on their own game. This makes it hard to fake and gives it merit.
